California Institute of Technology was ranked No. 1 among the top space science universities in the world according to the U.S. News and World Report 2017 Best Global Universities rankings that were published Oct. 25, followed by Harvard University in 2nd place and the University of California-Berkeley in 3rd palce.

The University of California-Santa Cruz earned the No. 4 spot on the list of Best Global Universities for Space Science, as well as high rankings for geosciences (No. 49) and environment/ecology (No. 65).

The University of Arizona (UA) is one of the world's best academic research institutions, according to U.S. News & World Report. It was ranked No. 7 for space science program, boosted by top-10 finishes in space science global research reputation and publications. Overall, UA was ranked No. 73 out of 1,000 higher-education institutions across 65 countries in the 2017 Best Global Universities ranking.
