The University of Adelaide has moved up 30 places to claim 122nd spot in 2018 from 152nd in 2017, according to the U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings 2018.

In addition, the University of Adelaide is ranked in the world's top 100 for five subjects:
- Agricultural Sciences (56th),
- Computer Science (52nd),
- Engineering (64th),
- Environment/Ecology (93rd),
- Plant and Animal Science (59th).

Adelaide is also ranked highly in the following subjects:
- Chemistry (142nd)
- Materials Science (132nd)
- Geosciences (136th)
- Clinical Medicine (173rd)
- Arts and Humanities (195th)
- Biology and Biochemistry (197th)

Moreover, Adelaide is ranked 134th globally in the 2017-2018 Times Higher Education world university rankings.
